WettBoi presets: the factory bank and new recipes

WettBoi ships with a factory bank of presets, each one setting every control, so loading one gives you the whole sound, not just a few knob positions. Open the preset menu at the top of the plug-in to load one, then adjust Mix and the ducking to your track.

Below: what each factory preset is for and the settings that define it, then new recipes you can dial in by hand.

The factory bank

Kick Duck Reverb

The reason the plugin exists: a big tail that gets out of the kick's way.

  • Reverb: Type Hall, Decay 2.4 s, Size 65 %, Pre-delay 18 ms, Rev wet 70 %, Rev HP 80 Hz

Rawstyle Screech Tail

Screeches and leads: bright, short, and cut hard so the tail never smears into the next kick.

  • Delay: off
  • Global: Routing Parallel, Mix 70 %, LFO on, LFO target Filter

Dotted Ping Pong

The classic dotted-eighth, now that the note buttons actually reach the engine. Left straight, right dotted, so it walks across the stereo field.

  • Reverb: Type Room, Decay 1.8 s, Size 45 %, Pre-delay 12 ms, Rev wet 35 %, Rev HP 150 Hz
  • Ducking: Key own input, Threshold -20 dB, Attack 2 ms, Hold 55 ms, Release 220 ms
  • Delay: Sync on, Note L 1/8, Note R d1/8, Feedback 48 %, Ping-pong on, Dly wet 65 %
  • Global: Routing Parallel, Mix 45 %, LFO off

Wide Sixteenths

Sixteenth triplet feel from a straight sixteenth on one side and an eighth on the other: a wide, busy tail that still ducks out of the kick.

  • Reverb: Type Plate, Decay 1 s, Size 30 %, Pre-delay 6 ms, Rev wet 45 %, Rev HP 250 Hz
  • Ducking: Key own input, Threshold -22 dB, Attack 1 ms, Hold 70 ms, Release 140 ms
  • Delay: Sync on, Note L 1/16, Note R 1/8, Feedback 38 %, Ping-pong on, Dly wet 55 %
  • Global: Routing Parallel, Mix 50 %, LFO off

Gated Tail

Reverb only, cut to almost nothing on every kick and let back in between. Fast attack, long hold, quick release: the tail breathes on the offbeat.

  • Reverb: Type Hall, Decay 3.5 s, Size 70 %, Pre-delay 14 ms, Rev wet 85 %, Rev HP 120 Hz
  • Ducking: Key own input, Threshold -28 dB, Attack 0.3 ms, Hold 140 ms, Release 90 ms
  • Delay: off
  • Global: Routing Parallel, Mix 55 %, LFO off

Delay Into Verb

Everything through the delay first, then into the reverb, so the repeats themselves get a tail. Heavy, and the ducking keeps it out of the kick.

  • Reverb: Type Hall, Decay 4.5 s, Size 75 %, Pre-delay 20 ms, Rev wet 70 %, Rev HP 90 Hz
  • Ducking: Key own input, Threshold -20 dB, Attack 2 ms, Hold 80 ms, Release 320 ms
  • Delay: Sync on, Note L d1/8, Note R 1/4, Feedback 45 %, Ping-pong on, Dly wet 60 %
  • Global: Routing Dly into Rev, Mix 55 %, LFO off

Dry Ping Pong

Delay only. Every preset above leaves the reverb on, so there was no starting point for someone who wants the echo and nothing else.

  • Reverb: off
  • Ducking: Key own input, Threshold -26 dB, Attack 0.8 ms, Hold 35 ms, Release 160 ms
  • Delay: Sync on, Note L d1/8, Note R d1/8, Feedback 38 %, Ping-pong on, Dly wet 55 %
  • Global: Routing Parallel, Mix 100 %, LFO off

Uptempo Slam

180 BPM and up: everything short, so the tail is gone before the next kick lands instead of piling up into mud.

  • Reverb: Type Room, Decay 0.8 s, Size 28 %, Pre-delay 4 ms, Rev wet 40 %, Rev HP 320 Hz
  • Ducking: Key own input, Threshold -30 dB, Attack 0.3 ms, Hold 15 ms, Release 80 ms
  • Delay: off
  • Global: Routing Parallel, Mix 100 %, LFO off

Tape Echo

A saturated, wobbling quarter-note echo. The feedback path drives into soft clipping, which is the part that sounds like tape.

  • Reverb: off
  • Ducking: Key own input, Threshold -22 dB, Attack 1.5 ms, Hold 45 ms, Release 240 ms
  • Delay: Sync on, Note L 1/4, Note R 1/4, Feedback 58 %, Ping-pong off, Dly wet 45 %
  • Global: Routing Parallel, Mix 100 %, LFO off

Vocal Duck

A plate behind a vocal, ducked by the kick so it sits back without disappearing. Slower attack and release than the kick presets, because a vocal does not want the tail snapping shut on every beat.

  • Reverb: Type Plate, Decay 2 s, Size 58 %, Pre-delay 24 ms, Rev wet 38 %, Rev HP 240 Hz
  • Ducking: Key own input, Threshold -22 dB, Attack 2 ms, Hold 50 ms, Release 260 ms
  • Delay: Sync on, Note L d1/8, Note R d1/8, Feedback 18 %, Ping-pong on, Dly wet 22 %
  • Global: Routing Parallel, Mix 100 %, LFO off

Spring Snap

Snares and claps: a short bright spring, high-passed well clear of the kick so it adds crack without thickening the low end.

  • Reverb: Type Spring, Decay 1.1 s, Size 35 %, Pre-delay 2 ms, Rev wet 42 %, Rev HP 500 Hz
  • Ducking: Key own input, Threshold -24 dB, Attack 0.4 ms, Hold 20 ms, Release 110 ms
  • Delay: off
  • Global: Routing Parallel, Mix 100 %, LFO off

Build Sweep

The reverb opens and closes on a slow LFO. For the eight bars before a drop, where the space growing is the whole effect.

  • Reverb: Type Hall, Decay 6 s, Size 85 %, Pre-delay 20 ms, Rev wet 40 %, Rev HP 200 Hz
  • Ducking: Key own input, Threshold -26 dB, Attack 1 ms, Hold 40 ms, Release 200 ms
  • Delay: off
  • Global: Routing Parallel, Mix 100 %, LFO on, LFO target Rev wet

Room Then Echo

Reverb first, then its tail echoed. The rev_to_dly direction only had one preset, and this is the one that shows what the ordering buys you.

  • Reverb: Type Hall, Decay 3.4 s, Size 70 %, Pre-delay 18 ms, Rev wet 45 %, Rev HP 280 Hz
  • Ducking: Key own input, Threshold -28 dB, Attack 0.6 ms, Hold 50 ms, Release 220 ms
  • Delay: Sync on, Note L 1/4, Note R 1/4, Feedback 26 %, Ping-pong on, Dly wet 30 %
  • Global: Routing Rev into Dly, Mix 100 %, LFO off
