How to install, set up and use Hardwave WettBoi in FL Studio

Installation

1. Create a Hardwave account if you do not already have one.
2. Download the Hardwave Suite from https://hardwavestudios.com/downloads. The Suite is the only installer; plug-ins are not downloaded separately.
3. Run the Suite and sign in with the same account.
4. Find WettBoi in the Suite and press Install. The Suite puts the VST3 and CLAP versions where FL Studio looks for plug-ins.
5. Open FL Studio (Windows or macOS). If WettBoi does not show up in your plug-in list, rescan your plug-ins in FL Studio's Plugin Manager.

Loading WettBoi

1. Pick the mixer track of the sound you want to put in a space, for example a lead or a vocal.
2. Click an empty effect slot on that track and choose WettBoi (VST3 or CLAP).

Letting the kick duck the reverb and delay

WettBoi's ducker pulls its reverb and delay back when the kick hits, so the tails fill the gaps instead of the kick.

1. Select the kick's mixer track, then right-click the small arrow under the mixer track that holds WettBoi and choose Sidechain to this track.
2. In WettBoi, set SC Source to Sidechain. With SC Source on Internal (the default), WettBoi ducks on the sound it is placed on instead of on the kick.
3. Shape the ducking with SC Threshold, SC Attack, SC Hold and SC Release. They start at -18 dB, 2.5 ms, 60 ms and 280 ms.

Reverb

1. Reverb On is enabled by default.
2. Pick a Reverb Type: Room, Hall, Plate or Spring. The default is Room.
3. Set Pre-Delay, Size, Decay, Damp, Width, Rev Wet, Rev EQ HP and Rev EQ LP to taste. They start at 18 ms, 65 %, 2.4 s, 40 %, 120 %, 70 %, 20 Hz and 18 kHz.
4. For a cleaner low end, raise Rev EQ HP. For a darker tail, lower Rev EQ LP.

Delay

1. Delay On and Delay Sync are both on by default, so the delay follows your project tempo.
2. With sync on, choose the left and right timing with Note L and Note R (1/8 and dotted 1/8 by default). With sync off, Delay L and Delay R set the times in milliseconds (400 ms and 600 ms).
3. Adjust Feedback (35 %), Delay HP (120 Hz), Delay LP (8000 Hz) and Ping Pong (on).

The LFO

LFO On is enabled by default and moves Rev Wet unless you change LFO Target. You can also send it to the delay level, the delay feedback or the filter, and set its LFO Rate, LFO Depth, LFO Shape and LFO Phase.

Mix

Mix sets how much of the reverb and delay you hear against the dry sound. It starts at 75 %. Bypass WettBoi for a moment now and then to hear what it adds.
